THE SHEEPDOG COCKTAIL

The Sheepdog is our signature cocktail and one which is close to our hearts seeing as Scout – our infamous sheepdog, is such an integral part of not only Black Lion Vodka but our personal lives.

This cocktail is our take on an Espresso Martini which is a sumptuous mix of Black Lion vodka, coffee liqueur and espresso. The rich, indulgent and creamy taste of our signature cocktail perfectly represents our beloved sheepdog, Scout. The shot of espresso will make sure you keep up with the pack, all whilst staying focused and alert like Scout with his flock!

Scout’s Espresso Martini:

50ml vodka, 25ml freshly brewed espresso coffee,
5ml demerara sugar syrup, 25ml coffee liqueur, coffee beans to garnish.

METHOD : SHAKE AND STRAIN
GLASS: MARTINI GLASS
GARNISH: 3 COFFEE BEANS

Scout is a young, enthusiastic working sheep dog, with an aptitude to farm life. He has a lot to learn and can often make a mistake or two, but he is absolutely integral to our farm business, helping us every single day move, round up, check and look after our flocks. His endless amounts of energy makes the Espresso Martini perfect for reflecting his role and personality within Black Lion Vodka.

Having a sheepdog has huge benefits since Scout can work over wet, rough and dry land. He also helps to scout out potentially injured sheep sectioning them from the pack when needed. The benefits from using a sheepdog are creating a more sustainable farm and working our land more efficiently.

We’ve had Scout for 12 months and throughout that time he has become vital for our business. Prior to Scout we had a Collie called Tag who died at 18 years old so Scout has big paws to fill!

Scout is the heart and soul of the flock so it’s only fitting that we named a cocktail after him. The sheep respect and work with him knowing full well he is in control. If anything, a good working sheep dog works and begins to think in harmony with the shepherd, caring, looking after the flock and anticipating our next move! It seemed obvious that having a brand like Black Lion needed it’s very own sheepdog!
