CUTTING WASTE, GROWING BUSINESS

Tim & Tan know the future of their family farm depends on looking after the soil and the natural environment. All our livelihoods do! Not just the sheep pastures and local spring water of the Cotswolds.

As a small, independent farm, sustainability demands business innovation too. For Tim & Tan, diversification and a spirit of adventure are a matter of business survival.

BLACKLION rare sheep’s milk vodka is made from the sugars-rich whey left over after cheese-making – whey that previously went to waste. By transforming this natural by-product into a delicious premium vodka, Tim & Tan have been able to promote both business and environmental sustainability.

DIVERSIFICATION FARMER OF THE YEAR

Tim & Tan are incredibly proud of the many prestigious taste awards BLACKLION vodka has won. But as farmers, the recognition meaning most perhaps is their 2022 Farmers Weekly Award as Diversification Farmer of the Year.

WHY THE MATTERHORN?

THE VALAIS BLACKNOSE

The BLACKLION vodka farm’s Black Lion dairy sheep are cross-bred by Tim & Tan from British milk sheep and the farm’s flock of Valais Blacknose.

This iconic breed originated in the mountains of Switzerland, explaining why the Matterhorn appears on every bottle of this Cotswold-born spirit of adventure!

“We are passionate about our Swiss Valais Blacknose, who are very much part of life on the farm and an inspiration for BLACKLION vodka.”
